The difference would probably be negligible.

From what Noctua stated the cooling effect is negligible with the covers.

 

I have a cue light I can use to show you when I’m joking, if you like.

If anything, I would think they made things better. Covers are metal and would add more mass to heatsink aka more surface for heat to dissipate.
