NH-D15, quieter, cheaper, same or better performance

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Getting 3 fans to fit on the NH-D15 is a pain in the ass and really not worth it imo. The third fan at the back would almost definitely interfere with the rear IO or the rear of the case, so you'd end up having to get rid of the rear exhaust fan at a minimum - even in a huge case like the GRone.

I'm using a NH-D15 with 2 fans for my 6700K, and I'm very happy with it's performance. I replaced a really obnoxiously loud 120mm AIO with it, and it performs a lot better with lower noise. I imagine that it'd be about similar for the D15 and a 240mm AIO, so it'd really be up to choice. For a case that large, I'd recommend the AIO - any one of them - since fitting a D15 around the cpu area is such a headache that you'd be able to avoid by having the AIO instead. I had to use low profile memory to fit the second fan, and it's just compromise after compromise when you get air coolers this large.
