Any Hope for an iOS 11 Jailbreak?

Is there any hope for a jailbreak in the near future?

 

Im on ios 11.1 and idk if i should stay on it or go to 11.1.1 since popular releases are more likely to be jail-broken.

 

Is jailbreaking dead or can we see something?

 

Id like to hear your thoughts.

Someone literally posted an iOS 11.1.1 jailbreak yesterday (although it's not a public jailbreak).

Yes, however the list of reasons for wanting to do it are getting smaller and smaller. 

 

Even if there is a jailbreak the only reason I would want to do it is so I can enable the Wi-Fi hotspot feature without my carrier knowing about it.

Dark Theme, different gesture for control center, and remove the home bar visuals are all reasons I would consider (although not end up) jailbreaking.

Just changing those things at the price of no updates is a little much for me to swallow. 

 

It's much easier to conform but many people do not like the idea of adapting to a different way of doing things.

Exactly, it seems like apple over the years has been taking the ownership of a device someone pays for out of there hands. Like why should they care if i downgrade my device and why do they try to stop it? Its kinda stupid.

Honestly Apple has opened up IOS to the point were besides anything illegal there is really no reason. You can have custom keyboards, moving backgrounds, controller support, and make workflows to automate things. Also the devs on Cydia can barely keep up so most apps are old

They added dark theme btw. Instead of high contrast mode making everything look stupid it only affects the UI so you don't get negative pictures you just get a dark theme. IMO best update they have ever had for a feature no one used. Not all apps have updated to it though so they will still appear negative looking.

Quite honestly, even Google is doing the same.

 

It wasn’t long ago where Android was the OS to have if you wanted to customize literally everything, even down to installing a firmware of your choosing. However, now Google’s exerting much more control.

 

Sure, you can still unlock your bootloader but unless you want to use Magisk, you lose access to some apps due to SafetyNet and Android itself is also getting harder to root. 

 

The reason OEMs are reluctant to let people do anything to their phones is because we are, tbh, dumb as all hell. That’s why people still download crap from websites which are so obviously shady.

I assume you mean the smart invert colors option in accessibility? It's still buggy as hell (and by buggy I mean inconsistent -- even within just iOS itself). Switch to smart invert and try to raise the brightness in control center for example.

Just to add to this, since I think you missed pointing out the reason why that's important.....if you jailbreak and have a worse experience because of it, then you'll ultimately blame Apple for those issues -- even though Apple had nothing to do with them as they were caused by the jailbreak itself. When you have a bad experience with something -- even if it's entirely your own doing -- you will still blame the company that made the product.

I guess that’s why the warranty is usually void.

 

Because you’re not running official software, so they can’t guarantee optimal performance. If you updated to an official build of iOS 11 and get worse performance, then you can rightfully blame Apple. But if yours is jailbroken and it ran fine before, well, good luck.
