If your motherboard of choice has the 4dimms that's a fine enough pick, Intel memory controllers are so good they will make any bad memory work fine enough with great timings on its base frequency which is 2400mhz in this case.

Only Ryzen with it's much inferior memory controllers needs to be careful when shopping for RAM for.

My build managed to fit a GTX 1070

As i Agree your Build of a 1070 is Better for gaming the extra money on the i7 is not the most needed for gaming even with a 1070. But no SSD and no Cooler is kinda a big EH ( though they can be bought afterwards / upgraded) personally i love having a SSD and make it a requirement  Off the bat. but its all preferences and thats mine.

the 1060 build is little cheaper and more well rounded for daily use. the 1070 is better for only gaming. pick and choose is what it comes down to.

Though im personally huge into PUBG right now and a SSD or 16gb of ram is WAYY important for right now since its so badly optomized which only adds to my needs of SSD on the build even with the gaming side of things

I am the kind of person who likes to think ahead considering better and more senseful upgrade paths, getting a ssd and extra memory while already being on the best CPU there is on the platform is much easier than upgrading CPU or GPU for the matter.

what point in having a beefy cooler if you're just running an i5? Upgrading a cooler is tons easier than upgrading a processor so start off with the i7 on stock and later just get a nice cooler, it works doesn't it?

I know SSDs are one of the biggest luxuries in PC's but lets be realistic, once the game finally loaded there is no difference so sacrifice 2~ months and get a crucial mx300, it is doable it is adding parts so easy to justify, now replace a 1060 for a 1070 Ti / 1080 because didn't feel pleased enough is much harder.

I like keeping things balanced as much as possible in the build always thinking of the best future upgrade path, don't think I am arguing or any thing just showing my line of thought, cheers ^^

Yeah Theres nothing wrong with your thoughts at all there all vaild depending on each and everyones wants and needs.  if somone knows in 3 months from now they will have $200 to get more  Ram SSD and a Cooler then thats a great way to do it so they can enjoy it now. Some know they wont have any spare money for hardware for much longer so upgrade path is less important.  Its all depends  Going with Best CPU and GPU As priority ussually is best.

TBH

i bought my PC with Stock cooler and no GPU and No HDD

i5 4690k  on a stock cooler

Got a small AIO , GPU & HDD later on worked with only 120gb SSD for a few months.

Also used a 42" 1080p TV  untill i got a monitor.
