Ethernet controller not showing nor working

Go to solution Solved by hammad1029,

picked up a used tp link 10/100 pci ethernet card for 90rs(0.9USD)! xD and it's working just fine

So i have an asrock x58 extreme 3 mobo with an x5660. The graphics card i had was an r9 280 that recently died so i switched (temporarily) to a gt9400 i borrowed from a friend. As soon as i booted up with the new graphics  card the Ethernet on the mobo stopped working and the adapter isn't even showing in the device manager and the lights on  Ethernet port won't work either.

My specs :-

Asrock extreme 3 x58 mobo

X5660 at stock 2.8 ghz with a stock intel heatsink

Gt 9400 512 mb (previously an r9 280)

8gb ddr3 kingston ram

500 gb hdd and 128 gb ssd

Fsp hexa+ 550 watt psu

What I've tried yet :-

Resetting the bios

Taking out and reinsterting the cmos

Installing the latest realtek drivers which showed "ethernet controller not found, if deepsleep mode enabled plug in the cable"

Help needed urgently, thanks in advance!

The whole of it of it or just the ethernet port? Are my hard drives, cpu and ram safe?

To be clear, thats only a guess and theres no way I can 100% sure but yes, it sounds like your board is having chipset issues.

When/if it goes it will die completely but the rest of your hardware will be fine however finding a replacement X58 board will be difficult as they're quite rare these days.

I sold my old x58 board for more than I bought my z170 for

does the BIOS on that board have a cable checker utility like Asus boards?

No it doesn't.  And also, lan is enabled in bios.
