I want to overclock my newly built Rig, specs below

Ryzen  5 1600

Asus Strix b350f

HyperX 2*8gb 2666mhz

H100i V2

I am fairly new to AMD overclocking, I went to the BIOS and change CPU frequency to manual, but 2 other fields appeared namely FID and DID.

Can someone teach me to overclock this using ASUS latest BIOS?

I watched Paul's (paul's hardware) video on overcloking ryzen, but his BIOS is different on what I have maybe because of the updates.

Thank you!

Ryzen  5 3600 | ASUS Strix B450i Strix | G-Skill Trident Z RGB 16gb 3200mhz

Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super OC | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500gb | NZXT H200i | NZXT x52 | Corsair RM650x

Adjust Vcore voltage by increments of .05 and adjust core clock by increments of .1 until you find the lowest voltage you can at the desired clock speed. 1600s can vary on binning but try to go for 3.9 GHz at 1.325V (with offset-only this is gonna vary, check your auto-set voltage in your BIOS - I have the same board coming in the next two days in the mail).

Your BIOS only allows offset voltage adjustment, which is why most overclocking tutorials are going to be rendered useless.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I saw the vCore voltage field, but I got lost when I change the frequency from 'Auto' to 'Manual' because on my Intel BIOS a field change it from Auto->Manual a frequency text box will appear but on the AMD 2 other fields appeared 'FID' and 'DID' and it is new to me.

Go "Auto" and change the multiplied to 39 for 3.9GHz etc.

Don't use the manual settings

gonna try this, I still need to explore the BIOS.

Don't pass 1.425V for benchmark overclocking

Don't go past 1.325-1.35V for daily use, should be able to hit 3800mhz minimum.

Throw a fan over your VRM if you do any overclocking. Mostly the one next to the IO, the top VRM really doesn't matter.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
