My PC specifications don't matter here. But performance on it will be very good. I am a power user. I'll be 3D rendering, image manipulation, video editing, etc.

Are these peripherals good?

3D Connexion Space Pilot Pro

Logitech 4K Pro Webcam

Blue Yeti Blackout Edition

Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

AudioTechnica ATH M50X

I wouldn't get the M50x, they are rather bad. The Space pilot pro is awesome if you build a lot in 3D, it can really save you a lot of time.

Since you are going to edit videos then I am guessing that you want a more accurate sound or as close as it gets in the M50x price range and if open headphones are okay for you then get AKG K612, if closed is a must then get Sony MDR-7506 or AKG K553 or K550 MKII (the two AKG are the same, just different names).

It would be nice just to do a basic list of specs.

This forum is way better than Tom's Hardware. Anyways, here are my specs:

-Intel Core i9-7900X

-ASUS ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME

-G.Skill TridentZ RGB 64GB (4×16GB) 3200MHz memory

-2×Intel Optane SSD 900p 480GB (OS/App Drive)

-4×Samsung 850 Pro 2TB SSD

-2×Nvidia Titan Xp in SLI

-Phanteks RGB LED strips for extra beauty

-Custom hard-line water-cooling with Phanteks blocks for CPU and GPU, acrylic tubes, InWin fans, EK coolant, pump, reservoir, and radiators

-Lian Li PC-O11 ROG Edition

-EVGA 1600W 80+ Plus Titanium power supply

-10TB Seagate Barracuda HDD for system backup

You like it? Do you?

Question- (I would have made another thread for this, but I'm putting it here) Can I put the 900p Optane SSD's in Raid 0

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

What is the difference between open and closed headphones?

Open headphones allow sound to leak in and out while closed don't

Does that matter in professional production? And gaming?

Edit: I think this means that others can hear what I hear. Not comfortable with this. I didn't mention it here but I am also getting a Sound BlasterX Katana speakers, so no point in open headphones. Going for the MDR 7506

Bigger soundstage, more natural sound reproduction and well not as much heat. You will be able what happens around you IRL and if a person sits like 1m away from you then they will be able to somewhat hear the stuff you hear, but we are talking very very little. Plus in this budget the best in terms of accuracy is the K612 which are open, but open are only good if there isn't a lot of noise around you.

Don't get Sound BlasterX Katana, you can get JBL LSR 305s with cables for the same or a bit less than the katana and they are worlds better, especially for editing.

The speaker are not for editing purposes, they are for gaming purposes. Surround sound for editing? I don't think it's worth it unless I am making separate surround sound profiles. The headphones are for editing, and close will be better because noise can come from anywhere in my neighborhood-not to forget my brother who fires up his consoles on my TV. Doesn't even care about the wireless headphones I got him on his birthday.

Anyways, are these peripherals good for my production needs? I have other gaming ones but these are a nice addition.

Logitech MX Master 2S mouse (very good mouse, no doubt)

Logitech Craft keyboard (a nice dial, even if few apps use it)

I'll use my SteelSeries QcK Gaming Mousepad with this too, even if it isn't necessary

who said anything about surround sound?

The LSR305s have way higher audio quality than that katana soundbar with a "subwoofer"

I don't want speakers for editing purposes. The speaker can be used to show the final product to everyone. I don't want a headphone for gaming, because wireless ones with surround sound are not good. The speaker also means that my brother can listen to the game. The LSR305 is a good speaker, but for gaming, I did want surround sound (just for the sake of it).

The katana aren't even surround sound, for surround sound you would need to have multiple speakers placed around you, we are talking two behind you, three in front(left, center and right) and maybe a sub and that is just for 5.0 or 5.1. Plus the sub that comes with the katana are at best a noise/rumble maker, it won't actually reach the deep lows or anything like that. The katana is just a very poorly made soundbar.

Ok

I know you have a thing for audio.

But even multiple Youtubers love it.

It has surround sound.

And being an Audio enthusiastic person, you don't know that Surround sound works with 7.1 channel. You don't need speakers surrounding you. It's called Dolby Atmos. It gives off sound waves in a conical beam. Lets close this thread.

That is not how it works at all, not even close to it. Dolby atmos is a technology that was actually meant to play sound up towards your ceiling and fake that there is sound coming from above, it is not meant to be used for sides and it is far from the quality of having a dedicated speaker there. It is not going to sound anything like having a true 5.1 setup, plus with faking 5.1 by bouncing the audio waves off stuff introduces a lot of problems, if you have ANYTHING in the way of the reflection then that is going to course problems, same if the surfaces are different and then the placement of the soundbar is a lot more locked down to get the optimal sound.

It is basically going to be like comparing real 5.1 or 7.1 speaker surround sound, to the fake software surround sound you can find in some headsets. It is world's apart.

Also don't you assume shit like what you just did, I know a lot about surround sound.

I don't care if multiple YouTubers love it, 99.99% of the people that buy and make videos about this stuff haven't tried anything else than your typical gaming speaker or headset and they have no idea what good audio truly is.

But hey,  it is your money, I am not going to stop you from buying a low quality soundbar with what is truly a gimmick
