How long has this been happening? or just started recently?

Some people prefer a challenge, I just band my head against a wall until my method works...

Can't exactly remember, It might have been going on for a while, but now lots of other things started breaking and I have had to use it. (For example, audio now doesn't work, I can't connect to the internet via my ethernet cable)

I do know it is all software issues.

Might I suggest doing a clean reinstall of Windows?

Just backup all the files, and get the drivers before wiping the HDD/SSD.

I've had a problem with my Ethernet adapter & WiFi card being bridged and not being willing to remove the bridge.
Only way to fix mayor f**kups is just cleaning it out.
I do that every year, just as a preventive measure :)

I probably should actually. If windows keeps developing problems like this, I might go linux sooner.

May I suggest trying Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB before going to Linux?

I was on the edge of waving Windows goodbye, then trying this changed my mind.
You'll have to get that image through 'alternative methods' but I've been running this on my main rig for 5 months with no issue's
Also started using it on my Lenovo T420

LTSB? What is that? Is that the windows 9 thing linus was talking about? Does it have any telemetry, or forced updates?

It is a build of Windows 10 Enterprise, not the same as what Linus talked about.
No telemetry or forced updates.
The most recent one at the moment is the 1607.
It'll stay like that for a while, you do not get the newer ones for a few years. But instead updates for the current one.
Windows Store and other apps are gone.
Best to compare this to Windows 7, since essentially it is the closest you'll get to 7 with 10

Do make 100% if you find this image on "the bay" you get a non N or K version.
You'll need the windows media player extensions at some point, if you got said version yet another reinstall would be needed.

TL;DR
No forced updates or "metro style" apps.

No tracking/telemetry.

Harder to get, and attention is required when picking the exact version.

EDIT:

Most if not all drivers that support Windows 7/10 support this version.
It isn't like the server build which @LinusTech talked about, I tried that version but my Ethernet card didn't like it at all.

How much storage does it need?

Edit: And did it put adds on minesweeper?

There is no minesweeper, so ads.
It needs a USB Drive of about 4GB.

While 8GB would be what I use including drivers.
On your PC a 20GB HDD can house this.

Footprint of the OS itself is about 13GB, which isn't more then Windows 7.

While I'd recommend at least having 100GB's of storage for personal files :)

Windows 7's footprint, I can tell you, is 8GB, Ultimate Edition.

I'll be honest here, I'm just trying to remember the footprint for W10 LTSB.

I haven't checked when I did a fresh install, so all have is that 13GB which probably had a game partially installed on it.

So I suppose it'll be close to 8GB-9GB.
Should be below 10, if you do not install software right away & remember the what seems to be the wrong value :P

EDIT :

Checked all default Windows related folders, came right around 8.3GB's.
Might be a bit less for you since there might be a tiny amount more in there for me (temp files)

Glad I could help out a bit.

Just do whatever you think will work best.

In the end you'll have to use the thing (what I assume) is every day.

Yep. Going to start reinstalling now. (Fortunately I have two computers, I am commenting with my laptop, desktop has the bugs and has also broken it's net connection)
