After trying to fix a few problems on my Asus laptop, i accidentally broke the headphone jack somehow. It doesn't seem to detect my headphones sometimes and when i'm playing audio on my headphones, it will sometimes stop playing through them but through the laptop speakers. It sometimes doesn't detect my headphones at all Can someone tell me how to fix this? I don't want to bring it to the service center as it's in some kind of industrial park i don't know.

p.s. I dropped the laptop off a shelf from chest height a couple of times, and also yanked the headphone jack out of the laptop a countless number of times. I do the same to usb peripherals too :)

Carefully take it out with a thumb on the top and the pointer on the bottom, and kiss it each time because you’re sorry for abusing it.

Well there's your issue then. Repeatedly yanking it out has probably either ruined the connections on the inside, to the motherboard, or widened the port so much that it doesn't make good contact anymore.

So I have to replace the whole motherboard? Or resolder the headphone jack? Everything inside seems fine, nothing out of shape. I compared it to the one on my macbook and everything seems fine. The inside of it looks dusty though. I'm wondering if that is the problem.

Or you could get an inexpensive USB dac/amp which is leagues better than the audio stock.

Seems like a great idea. Maybe I'll break the USB port next.
