Systems in the universe always end up looking the same. A cities' roads end up looking like veins in a human body. Supernovae (plural) end up looking like cell division, as does a black hole eating star dust. 

An HDD really does weigh more with data on it than when it has none on it. Though it's so small you can't actually measure the difference.
