What alternatives would you recommend for the Macbook air? I like the macbook touchpad alot, it makes the whole system so much easier and faster to use compared to the small alternatives on comparing laptops. In comparison I like the fact that I can use whatever OS I want on other laptops.

What are the best alternatives that you would recommend, that compare at size, weight and performance. The cheaper the better - obviously.

Microsoft Surface, HP Spectre, Dell XPS 13. You can also install another OS on MacBook, but I think that you are losing the macOS optimization bonus then and just overpaying then. How are you going to use your new laptop?

I have thought of the XPS lineup, but the Spectre and Surface have the same kind of trouble - they're a bit on the expensive side. I didn't mention that the laptop doesn't need to be newest model, I was anyways going to purchase an refurbished/older macbook air ~500ish $. I'm just going to do basic web browsing, netflix etc. streaming and if any then light gaming only.
