BF4 Mantle support.

        Not much is known about MANTLE in general but it does look promising, what is known is many companies have pledged support for AMD's upcoming Graphics API. I am curious and would love to engage in discussion about DICE and their support for MANTLE, more specifically is what effect DICE's scaling back of BF4 expansions and further development to work out bugs and issue fixes for server/game issues. Will the MANTLE Patch also be delayed? We haven't heard anything regarding the announcement that was supposed to take place sometime this month and that worries me, because it was supposed to be our first glimpse into how mantle would theoretically and hopefully boost performance in games over Direct3D. How does this effect AMD? Let's discuss

But what about the people that bought new Radeon cards with the intent of BF4+Mantle in December?

Its said to be released some time from now till January

With all the problems BF4 is having right now I would highly suspect that the Mantle update will be delayed until the game is working much better.

That is going to suck though! It's not about BF4, it's about MANTLE. I mean we are dying to see how it performs!

Dx version is problematic but with recent patches its actually much better. Agreed some hard to diagnose problems and configuration related problems are left but I can play with some minor glitches right now. Those take a while but its same for all other games so no big deal. Mantle is different api and it should be available as intended late december and not postponed bc it will have its own glitches too while it may actually solve all other config related ones so it should be enabled in december as promised.

the only thing i'm scared about MANTLE and BF4 is that just like the game itself DICE will screwup MANTLE aswell only to fix it later.

BF4 is not the only game that's gonna support mantle... I mean, look at Star Citizen...

Without sounding like an asshole, if you bought a new GPU based on an API there still have been ZERO real numbers about... I wouldn't really feel bad for you if it got delayed.

I doubt it would be a big delay if anything.  Honestly, they recognize the netcode is a problem, but it isn't like DICE can just divert 100% of its manpower to the netcode and expect better results, not everyone that works there has the skillset to make those repairs.  There are still level designers, engineers, and programmers that work more specifically on the Mantle API integration, DLC packs, and the other projects.  I think if anything gets delayed, it will be more a PR move than actually manpower.  If I am wrong though, and they can perfect the game more than that would be fantastic.

I am one of those people. Infact i bought two 290x + BF4 bundles

I read some information on the mantle api potentially minimising or solving a lot of the current graphical problems encountered by Dx.

If we think about it from a competition point-of-view, and consider the current problems with BF4 (bugs, glitches, anomalies, etc)... How good would a flawless Mantle API patch look right now? :-)

If they're smart- that could be the best publicity possible!
