My CPU pulls fresh air in through the front rad. Doesn't matter how hard I run the case fans, no amount of case ventilation will make any difference for the CPU.  Would be nice if my GPU temps controlled the case fan speed as it would make a substantial difference in temperatures.  I also have issues with my overclocked CPU causing rapid increases and decreases in temperatures causing my fans to ramp up and down fairly rapidly.  Pretty damn annoying and I cannot manually just set a speed for gaming and a speed for whatever else.  It seems to have to be on an automatic fan curve based on cpu temp if done through software and I refuse to install a stupid knob to control it all.  So setting my GPU to control the speed would keep things fairly steady and helping cool what is actually heating the case and using the air in the case.  It has occurred to me that it may not be so difficult to manage, but I haven't seen anyone do it before so...  I'm thinking I should be able to run a splitter off one of my GPUs to feed both it's own fans and a powered fan hub.  I'm not sure what adapters I would need for my specific GPU fan header, but theoretically it should work.  Right?  Any advice guys?

Speed fan can control your case fans using the GPUs onboard temp sensor. AFAIK it is the only program that will.

Some GPUs have that as a feature. I know at least some Asus Strix do

OC your cpu and now it would occasional spike in thermals thus causing your case fans to ramp up too, making a hard whining sound.

Been in your situation before and i simply reduced my overclock.

Not the problem I'm focusing on.  It's sort of one that will fix itself the second I figure out how to do this properly.

It's not looking like my board is supported.  I figured out how to program it to an extent, but even after uninstalling the ASUS software for fan control, it doesn't seem to be able to override bios settings and actually change the fans speed.

Assuming you haven't already:

Open SpeedFan -> Configure -> Advanced -> Click the dropdown box for your motherboard (probably 'Nuvoton') -> change all the 'PWM mode' settings to 'manual' -> tick the 'remember it' box.

Yeah this works pretty well, have my side panel fan curve running off the gpu sensor.

You may have to enter BIOS (UEFI) and disable fan control.
