I put together a quick litecoin mining build and I'd like some feedback on it.  Most of these items I already have laying around unused, so actually I only need to buy the GPUs, mobo, and processor.  I'll throw this all on a test bench I also have laying around.  Here it is:

If I made a mistake, let me know.  I'm new to mining.  Oh and I know the mobo has way too many free PCI-E slots for what I'm doing, but I expect I might add two more in the future?  People do that kind of thing with this stuff right?

CPU: i7 6850K RAM: 64GB 3200Mhz Mobo: EVGA Micro2 PSU: EVGA P2 850W GPU: EVGA 1080 Ti FE

Case: Fractal Design Node 804 Cooler: NH-D15S

Storage: Samsung 850 Pro 256GBSandisk Ultra II 960GB

OS: Windows 10 | Display: LG 34UM94 & Asus PG279Q

The gpu from newegg seems to be really expensive, I am not sure where you are planing to buy them. I think the rest of the parts should be fine. You do not need the features of the psu, it is money that could be used for better gpus? Unless you plan on using this for gaming. The rig will not take advantage of that nice of a psu. I would go for the corsair tx series.

I wouldn't waste it on a folding rig TBH...  Other than that, I don't see too many major issues...

How do you have that psu laying around? Also the gpu is discontinued on that website so it really is not that cheap.

I happen to also want that for mining but it has been sold out everywhere. I currently have a 6870 on 3 monitors as per my description.

I also replaced the mobo with this: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-ga970aud3p  It was cheaper and roughly the same.

You can look for tips on building a mining rig here.

http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/04/build-a-litecoin-mining-rig-hardware/

Your parts picker looks good, might want to try a 1000 watt PSU to add up to 4 GPU's in the future.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

I actually have a Corsair AX1200i in my main system which is WAY overkill for it.  If I do decide to move to 4 GPUs I'll just swap them out.  Thanks. :)

yeah, that's not a bad idea. the RM is still seasonic. i'm considering grabbing an old 4p opteron setup, and using risers to progressively add 7950's/270x/280x's. fold BIGADV while mining... although maybe i should just mine to keep power costs down... I don't think the dorm circuits can handle a hybrid system like that...

Well the problem is that everyone wants them for mining, they sell out in like 20 minutes!

meh. just dedicate 1 core to the OS and miner... I can take the power supplies outta some really old computers, and dedicate each to a card, or something like that. plus old harddrives and such.
