I recently built a new pc with a few old parts.

Parts list

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

Motherboard: Asus B350-Prime

Ram: 2 sets of 2x4GB 3200Mhz Corsair Ram. (2x Corsair CMK8GX4M2B3200C16) to be exact. I got one pack and then amazon accidentally sent another for free so i just put that in my system too.

PSU: TX650W

GPU: GTX 970

HDD: 1X2TB. Seagate.

So on booting up the pc quickly switches off and then back on and then off again and then back on where it will take me to a screen saying that i need to press F1 to go into setup, once it takes me to the bios i never change another just press save and exit, with no changes, and the pc will continue and boot fine. Anyone have an idea what this is, i'm guessing its some sort of bios of memory issue the pc is fixing or changing when its doing the restarts/boot loop. Sometimes it doesn't happen if i turn the pc back on within say 5 hours of using it last. But if i leave it for like 8 hours it will boot loop 2 times, sometimes 3 then boot fine.

I'm running a stable overclock at 3.8Ghz with 0.1375  addon voltage and running the default xmp 3200mhz profile for the ram. I don't think the ram is on the QVL but once in windows everything works fine, its just that initial boot that is the problem, guessing its just some bios setting i need to change.

Any help is welcome, thanks.

It's probably doing RAM training. Have you updated the BIOS to the latest version?

EzUpdate sometimes doesn't get the latest BIOS.

Check manually which one you have in the BIOS and check the asus website which one is the latest that's actually available.

RAM training is something Ryzen seems to love doing. It's comparable with the system calibrating itself with the RAM so it works properly. 3200MHz for Ryzen is quite high so it could be possible those high speeds sometimes trigger the ram training because the system might think it's not perfectly stable.

Ah ok. Anyway to stop Ryzen trying ram training? I'll try a bios update again later. Then I have to leave my computer off for a few hours in order to see if it boot loops. I'll keep you posted over the next few days.

Just booted up my PC after around a day of it being off and it did the boot loop thing, 3 times. I did bios update to Version 1002. On the site it says 20/10/2017 but in bios it says 29/9/2017. But the version both match, weird, anyway the bios update didn't fix my problem.

I would say RAM.

However you should remove the overclock and see what happens. That includes the RAM OC.

Use 2133Mhz with the rams timings and work you way up and see if you loop.

Once it starts to loop you can increase the RAM and IMC voltages to see if it helps.

However if it still loops on default speeds then it's plain incompatibility and you most likely won't be able to stop the loop.

It's not a race to the bottom.

So I've still been having this issue day in and out. What settings other than lower ram frequency or my overclock, can i change, i tried give the ram 1.4v instead of 1.35v, which made no difference. Obviously i don't want to lower the ram speeds since i paid extra money just to get the 3200 kit over the 2666 kit. Is it worth contacting Asus with my ram number to see if they can add support to the bios for it?

Lol.... what you need to do is lower the RAM speeds... that's the issue obviously... Just try lowering them (you can get them back to normal later) and see if you get a boot loop....

Ok well i've lowered them to 2933HZ and i'll let you know over the next few days if the boot looping has stopped.

So you have 4 dimms in your system... i dont know exactly but make sure youre running them in dual channel, and not quad (if your motherboard is even capable of that)

Ryzen doesnt like quadchannel ram at all.

i5 4670k @ 4.3Ghz 1.25v

Asrock Fatal1ty H87 Performance (with non-Z oc)

2x8gb 1600mhz DDR3

GTX 1060 6gb (modded no power limit) 2100mhz core / 4650mhz memory

be quiet! pure power L8 730W

120gb 850evo + 1TB SSHD
