Hi there Avve! :)

I don't know about that specifical cpu so I can't help there. But I can share with you my experience overclocking cpu's

Recently I made some testing with my i7 7700K overclocked and base clocked with some games.

And guess what... none to little performance was gain fully overclocked.

Take in count that that CPU is top 3 in the market right now.

So... If you're thinking on overclock cpu to get any performance improvements... My tip is that you focus on either overclock your GPU or get a new one :)

some BCLK at max, but basically no

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

BCKL is the only option, and it's not a good one.

I would just leave it how it is.

A thought about overclocking CPU...

thats because you are running a 3440x1440 display, your GPU isnt powerfull enough to max out the CPU so more CPU wont give you anything in most cases. CS:GO should see you off a lot better framerare wise though and all other source games. overclocking is definatly worth it if you ask me. the performance gains i have seen with my 1080 and I7 4790K have been quite noticable going from base 4.2GHz to 5GHz in a lot of titles and benchmarks at 1080p and 1440p

Well the thing is that im doing a school prodject and im going to overclock the cpu, but after seeing Linus new video he mentions that some cpus dosnt support overclocking. So I wondered if this is the case with this one aswell. Im just going to run some games and underclock and overclock to see if there are any difference in fps. My real gaming rig is in my profile :) I got a 710 graphics card for the tesing aswell cuz i dont have a hugh budget avaliable :/ Im going to test csgo, dota 2, pubg and some more games. I could share the results with u guys if you want them? :D

Overclocking your CPU nets no noticeable difference when gaming almost all the time. Better off spending time OCing your GPU

No exactly no NOTICEABLE difference, but you agree that there are a minor difference. And thats what im writing about, if its worth or not to overclock

This is results when OCing a 6700k. Please tell me how you would notice any of those differences. So days worth of tweaking and stability testing all for sometimes not even a frame of improvement.

Alien Isolation on ASUS GTX 980 Strix 4GB ($560)Total War: Attila on ASUS GTX 980 Strix 4GB ($560)Grand Theft Auto V on ASUS GTX 980 Strix 4GB ($560)Shadow of Mordor on ASUS GTX 980 Strix 4GB ($560)

Man I get it, but this is still my school prodject so im going to try overclocking the cpu to see if there are differences or not. Your 6700k wont give any difference i get it, but still why even try to talk me out of it? and im going to work with these https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jc8T2R

If its a school project go for it. Just saying dont expect much with the amount of time you are going to dump into it.
