Psu for Coffelake build.

Hey guys, 

 

I’m currently working on a CAD (with some gaming as well) build for a friend of mine. I was looking at the EVGA Super Nova G3 550w.

 

I plan on using the i7 8700 for the build (hopefully it will be in stock around Christmas duh).

 

Any other suggestions? Here in Germany the G3 is 80€ and it would be somewhat nice to push a little more budget towards the GPU but I also don’t like cheaping out on the Psu.

The 550G3 is fine.

The g2 is 15€ more. Isn’t the g3 the successor of the G2?

the CXM would be 65€ so I’m looking into that thanks.

If you're doing CAD for a living then I would get the best PSU you can afford. The G3 is up there.

Well it’s not for a living, but I’m with you. Get a good Psu and use it for the next 5+ years instead of cheaping out

It should be noted that the EVGA SuperNOVA G3 has an aggressive fan curve that ramps up the fan at low loads, and therefore is loud.

 

For 80 euros, I would recommend the BitFenix Whisper M.

Noise isn’t as much of an problem for this build
