Backplate Without Waterblock

Hi I am looking at getting an EK-FC7970 backplate for me Graphics card. I want one because it looks cool, I have no other reason :). I have the Gigabyte GV-R7970OC-3GD, with the stock air cooler.

thanks for your help, let me know what other information would be useful :)

Also let me know if this is in the wrong section.

it won't fit...

http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/waterblock/3831109856727 You might want to check again bro :) it supports both the original and V1.0 Gigabyte GV-R7970OC-3GD, that card as a reference PCB

I don´t see the reason why it should not work...

As long as you use a reference card (which you already wrote) and as long as this backplate is the right one, I´m pretty sure it will fit. The backplate (unless you have something important on the back of the PCB) does anyway nothing else than looking good and give more stabilty to the PCB (does not count for a GTX Titan... VRAM ;) ).

I may have to find some longer screws. How do you mount a backplate? If I just screw it onto the back, wont it short out EVERYTHING? It is metal.

thanks for your replies :)

You will get spacers with the backplate.

Is a backplate really worth possibly voiding your warranty and maybe damaging your card?
