Dedicated GPU For Streaming/Recording

So I'm thinking about buying a fairly but decent gpu for recording/streaming. I just read that not a lot of AMD cards support video encoding or something like that so I figured I would go with a Nvidia card. What would you guys suggest? I currently have a 1070 that I plan on using for gaming and such.

A 1070 should be fine, although the sweet spot is probably a 1080

Nope. You can't be GPU stressing at 4k and also use it to stream. You will get dropped frames and dropped FPS. 

You need to encode with a CPU.

Well you just need another GPU. Getting another card doesn't do anything for streaming and once you get to the 1070 level there isn't much difference in video encoding. Spending a ton more on a card isn't worth 30s max difference.

Most games still use the CPU a good amount. I don't want to stress that out too at the same time.

Yep exactly, this is a CPU problem. But also the 1070 is not a great 4K card, expect in eSports or older games.

But you don't get how this works. Getting another GPU does not take the stress off of your first card.

PUBG and Arma 3 are two of the worst optimized games ever made. You can't really use them as an example for 4K gaming performance. A 1080 ti and 750 ti get more or less the same FPS in Arma 3.

I understand that they're poorly optimized, but I still get decent frames on them with my GPU is all I'm saying.

But I thought that NVENC was a separate part of the GPU and doesn't effect the gaming experience. And I think you are referring to like a Tesla card? But that is also different.

Yes, but that still doesn't make the 1070 a great 4K card. If I said that I get 60fps on Arma 3 in 4K that doesn't make the 750 ti a 4K card.

No he's right, NVENC is just the name of the GPU's encoder. It still runs off the same cores and vram as the game.

Yes I just checked. NVENC is a totally separate part of the GPU and using it does not effect gaming performance at all.

I never said the 750TI was a 4k card nor did I say the 1070 was a 4k card. All I said is that I get decent frames with it.

No, NVENC exists in all GTX-cards from Kepler and upwards -- no Tesla needed. And yes, NVENC is a separate part of the chip and thus affects gaming-performance very minimally; I get a drop of around 1-2 FPS when recording, for example, when utilizing NVENC.

Recording doesn't give me much of a frame drop either, I'm talking about streaming.

That's negligible, that's the same thing that Shadow Play uses. 1-2fps doesn't really count as performance drop.
