Compatibility with this case?

flibberdipper

My sister has one of these PCs, and while it performs decently, the "stock" heatsink (actually a shittier Deepcool one with a 3-pin fan that goes full-bore all the time) is insanely loud and causes massive vibrations, which when combined with the HDD's vibrating, causes her entire PC to make the desk resonate... Yeah. Needless to say it is loud as hell. Now naturally, I can't seem to find what kind of clearance this case has, and I would really like to see if I can find a nice performing and looking cooler that'll fit (something like a Pure/Shadow Rock Slim maybe?) so that my dad can grab one for her as part of a Christmas present.

Personally I'm thinking a cooler that's about 140mm tall will just barely fit, but hopefully someone can either find proper measurements or use a small amount of brain power to figure it out.

Pretty sure you could fit a Hyper 212 in there... If not, you could try the MasterLiquid Maker 92 from Cooler Master

When I still had my 212 EVO in my PC she said that she hated how it looked with the exposed copper "caps" or whatever you want to call them.

And an AIO probably isn't the greatest idea because a. not really worth the price premium b. would still be noisy c. she wouldn't have the slightest idea if it failed.

No room on her floor, and ironically enough we already put an inch or so of super soft foam underneath the feet.

The Corsair H55 is a nice quiet liquid cooler. The fan runs at full speed the whole time, and I have to really listen to hear it. It should also fit in the the back or top fan mounts(it's a 120mm cooler)

you can also just say we don't feel like moving it to the floor , surely if there's floor space for a desk there floor space for a pc. unless the desk is a solid cube of concrete and there's nowhere to put anything under it.

I mean sure there's room on her floor, but then it'd be literally right in the middle of her room.

God, when I SAY there's no room, then there is. No. Damn. Room. Not that we don't feel like moving it.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you are actually having trouble grasping the concept of a early-teens girls' room and how massive the dresser is...

It's a desk with basically zero legroom, but none of this has anything to do with the deadass simple question I asked...

ok then.

you need to know the measurement of the clearance the case has ,

why don't you break out a tape measure and measure it seeing as nobody here has the case and you do. or as you said...

I'm not sure if you have bad hearing or if the fan isn't actually running at full speed. It's far from quiet at 1700rpm.

A PR Slim should fit just fine. The SR Slim is pretty tall at 160-161mm and might not.

Another option would be the SRLP: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9FGj4D/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk002

212 is kinda tall compared to other options, like H7 (full 1cm between them and performance is about same).

My hearing is fine thanks. I would think that since it's only a 3 pin header that I can't control the speed of it, therefore it runs at full blast

3pin fans can be controlled just as easily as 4pin fans. The difference is how they're powered.

3pin fans can be controlled with DC by using variable voltage for lower speeds or PWM where the power is modulated from the power source.
