Assuming you bought them off of steam, you can try right clicking the title in your library and going to properties, then local files, then verify integrity, that fixed the same problem for me a couple times, failing that, redownload ?

Once I had an issue where I had copied over the game files and installed by just validating so I didn't need to download the whole thing again, and the game would open but would crash as soon as the 3D stuff started.  I eventually fixed it be deleting a file and then re-validating again, which for some reason did a more thorough re-validation/install (I guess?)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I had a similar issue when I switched to windows 10, didn't have a legit win 7 copy so bought 10 off of amazon, also meant I could get rid of the 64gb ssd I was using at the time, my copy of gtav didn't work, validated and steam started a 50gb download to replace parts of the file, seem to do the trick if its just a issue with the game folder, other than that not entirely sure what it is doing :P

There's no reason for that.  Steam manages those for most games now automatically and even cloud syncs them for you, but in the event this game does not do that, you can just back them up normally.

Well before you go to that extent, did you try rebooting?

I'd look into common troubleshooting tips for the games, and if none of that yields anything, then reinstall the game.  Keep in mind my trick from above though so you don't need to re-download everything:

so do i delete a random file in the Vice city game files that verify the game cache?

Does that like repair the game?

Uninstalling games doesn't touch the save files because they live in your user folder, unless for some reason the save files live within the game itself. And even then, it usually doesn't touch the save files.

This has been happening and i cant seem to figure it out

i bought GTA 3 and GTA Vice city from G2A and the keys were valid and i played the games for 3 hours

but now when i click the shortcut or even the EXE file they say running then dont load

I have tried:

Verifying game cache

Reinstalling the games

Reinstalling steam

i only have windows defender

and for some reason the games did this after i changed my desktop background

This issue is really starting to piss me off

Check task manager background tasks, see if steam client bootstrapper is there. Kill it, then open steam - forcing it to update, this may help. Then reinstall game.

Had this issue before, fixed itself with a steam update, but if that doesn't work:

Update windows (if you can or reinstall) then reinstall steam then reinstall the game. After that you should be good.
