I researched nvidias new gen release patterns and they all fall into the 2 year period so with that knowledge i'd think they would release the cards next year around may and april. What are your thoughts on that? :D

"Just wait". Like for Vega, no?

They started selling the V100 this year, so presumably we could see the 2080 or whatever they call it next year, probably H2. But it depends more on AMD on this, if they don't react they don't need to actually sell it.

I don't know of anything concrete, but everything I've seen/heard points towards a mid-late Q1 release.

Yea amd has been slacking on the gpu game lately and nvidia plans to launch the 1070 ti soon but hopefully we get volta next year as soon as possible

Given the fact Pascal is still a new architecture and is still providing Nvidia with new SKUs plus the fact Vega is very underwhelming and isn't providing any competition I don't see any reason why Nvidia would rush anything.

They'll very likely keep Volta back for as long as they can and continue to milk Pascal for the foreseeable.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

And yet the 1070ti is rumoured to be coming in the next few months.

What reason would Nvidia have to devalue Volta by releasing it now? That machine learning money really is very sweet.

They don't need to sell anything consumer Volta right now because A: AMD doesn't have decent high end yet, B: They already have the V100 for machine learning everything and C: Pascal is currently doing fine, why bother in a new launch with new SKUs when your old product is still doing perfectly fine?

Why is AMD so dissapointing sometimes... i wish they'd actually compete with nvidia on the higher end of the scale.

Competition= Win for consumers

Volta is out in the wild, just not for consumers.

I know, hence why I said the machine learning cash is sweet.

To that idea, when consumer Volta cards come out there might be a slight chance they're not ridiculously expensive what with them being probably a year old or close to at that point.
