Hej you guys,

I own a GTX 1070 FE with the Accelero Extreme IV aftermarket cooler.

Just today I bough a used i7-6700k, to replace my i5-6600k. I have a very cheap CPU cooler, and therefore, together with my CPU upgrade, I want to replace it.

I've looked at the Noctua NH-D15. The price/performance ratio looks great.

But the thing is, I don't think, that an NH-D15 and an accelero extreme IV with the backplate, will fit into my nzxt s340! (If anyone here has this config and got it to work, please let me know).

So my question is, can I move my 1070 down to the second PCIe slot to make everything fit? Or will that decrease my performance? I have an Z170A Gaming Pro board from MSI.

Thanks :)

You have three PCIE 16X ports on that slot, that will individually be as fast as each other.

@Minibois

But in the Manual it says, that I only have a single 16x port. The other two are 8x and 4x. It says that on page 14.

Or do I misunderstand that whole concept?7984v1.0(G52-79841X7)(Z170A GAMING PRO)EURO.pdf

Oh nice, I didn't know that such thing existed. But it's only single-fan, hence it won't have as good a cooling performance as the original D15, right?

I was trying to find that but it's basically saying that they are x16 slots but wired for x8 or x4.

Even PCIe 3.0 x8 won't cause any performance loss, heck, you would need to go to PCIe 1.1 x8 before you noticed any major dip.

The details page tells me you have 3 16x slots, but it's one of those annoying "It's 16x, but electrically only 8x!" deals.

So yeah, nevermind that previous post of mine.

The top PCIE slot is the only 16x slot, with 'optimal performance', but you're not missing out on any performance with an 8x slot.
