Cable management.

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Yeah.  "Cable management" is about the labor, not so much the product.  The cables don't manage themselves.  YOU have to be skilled enough to route, hide and tie down the cables properly.  The case isn't going to do it for you.

Some cases are better at giving you holes to feed cables through and places to zip them down than others.  And  a modular PSU makes it easier because you can route the cable, hide it, etc. before you even install the PSU.

Is this going anywhere?  Because you seem to be talking us in circles.  Is this just a matter of you've never built a PC before and you're worried about how neat it's going to look inside because you don't know what parts you should buy?

I found that if you want to do a better cable management, you will need a modular psu, does this mean a normal non-modular psu can't do cable management? (using the Corsair VS550 please don't ask why)

And do the case size matter? (mid-tower, full tower etc.) want to buy a new case but don't know if my psu matters.

Thanks.

well for better cablemanagement u dont NEED a modular psu, theres always siccors

and many non modular psu,s can have decent cable management aswell if the case supports cablemanagement

bigger cases usually easier cable management but that isnt the case always :P

I mean do all the PSU cable have a standard length which makes all PSU compatible with cable management (like the VS550) or only specific PSU supports?

Different PSUs have different length cables, although 99% of them are within 10% of each other in length.

So, with any psu and case, I can do a good cable management right? If I get it right...

I wouldnt say with "any psu and case" as there are some cases that are just terrible for cable management, and some PSU's that have more wires than you need, making for more wires that you have to put somewhere (hence why many people like semi modular PSU's)

That means with a normal PSU and a case which is good for cable management could do a good job, right?

Or I should buy a semi modular psu first?

I would probably recommend a semi modular PSU anyways, because there are a lot of good cheap ones like the Corsair CX550m or EVGA B2 450w. It just helps regardless of what case you have

I have built a pc before but I just don't know how cable management works and if any parts will affect it works, have done some online research and I'm pretty sure I can figure it out now. Thanks a lot though :)
