I have a cisco 1800 series router laying around.

Somehow I got a hold of a cisco 1800 series router and it's been laying around for couple of months. I would like to my it function for my homelab that I will be starting and I have tried to set it up myself and have failed multiples. Is anyone out there willing to help me?

How much do you know about the cisco cli? Just for reference

I need to be able to make sure it receives internet and gives out internet to each port

So. a few questions. 

 

Do you have a range of IP addresses on your network that are not set to dhcp (those not on dhcp are also known as static addresses). You can find these in your router settings.

 

What range of IP addresses in that static range do you want dedicated to the switch. You will need a few for the ports you want to set active.

 

Do you currently have access to the switch cli?

 

What ports do you want to set on your switch right now?

Ok I'm not going to give you my right ip range because of security but. 

1. yes 

2. 0.0.0.20 to 0.0.0.30

3.yes

4.1,2,3

Forgot one. Is your subnet mask the basic 255.255.255.0?
