Planning a mining rig.

Go to solution Solved by Butterfish,

Do you know what PSU was used?

Yea, the whole build is listed here:

http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/04/build-a-litecoin-mining-rig-hardware/

Heya guys, i'v decided I want to mine some coins, mainly skrypt based, and have come up with a system, however, I have a few problems.

4gb cheapo ram.

sempron 145

4 x HD6950 (will unlock shaders).

some relatively cheap 970 motherboard with 4 pcie slots.

case - might have to custom build, probably just get a cheap one though.

PSU - What. I have no idea what to get for psu. Would a dual psu setup be viable? Or is it better to get some super expensive 1200w? Unsure about this.

I'd love suggestions, No idea what PSU to get, how i'm going to put the 6950's into a cheap case, or how i'm going to put them into the motherboard without burning my house down.

Thanks,

Current rig: i5 2500k & Gtx 560ti With Filco MJ1 TKL & Neutron Gtx 120gb SSD

mining makes your cards hot, like insanely hot, like 90 degrees is chilly....

dont get a case, get PCIe risers and hang them up somewhere.

R9 290X runs cool compared to what  tempatures your cards will be running at, run on a test bench or something.

Ok, so im thinking of getting like 2 banana stands and 2-3 risers, then adding antistatic stuff to the banana stand ends, and hanging the gpu's up? Then have it open air. Sound good?

And it's in an egg crate. The single most useful and simple invention for mining ever.

For my pertinent links to guides, reviews, and anything similar, go here, and look under the spoiler labeled such. A brief history of Unix and it's relation to OS X by Builder.

Sometimes when i'm bored, i just search for these type of litecoin rigs. Some of them are so ghetto that it's hilarious :D
