USB 3.1 Gen2 hub?

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

Yeah, you could buy extension cables :

1m (3.3ft) extension cables : https://www.amazon.com/CableCreation-10Gbps-Extension-Nintendo-Macbook/dp/B01FM4ZWV0/

 OR https://www.amazon.com/Extension-Cellularize-10Gbps-Nintendo-Macbook/dp/B072FMVF2C/

or smaller 2 ft one : https://www.amazon.com/Extension-Devices-Through-Connector-Extender/dp/B06WD5VXTB/

You can probably find extension cables with Type A connector as well, or adapters that change type a to type c (and then you can use that extension cable), but i can't be bothered to search for them.

I'm not aware of any, and I assume they're going to be hard to make because of the high bandwidth of each port and the power consumption of such a chip.

It's difficult to have enough processing power to mix multiple 10gbps ports into a single 10gbps port with all the timings and other requirements.

If you need more ports, go with something like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815287037&cm_re=usb_3.1_gen_2_card-_-15-287-037-_-Product

Or this would basically be the same card: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158436&cm_re=usb_3.1_gen_2_card-_-15-158-436-_-Product

It's basically two AsMedia chips, each creating two usb 3.1 gen 2 (10gbps) ... each asmedia chip uses 2 pci-e lanes, so there's a chip (under the heatsink) which splits the pci-e x4 from the slot into 2 x2 links each going to an asmedia chip.

If you want something cheaper, this will do... 2 ports for 27$ : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815166039

The reason I need one is

I want one.

Lol no, for real, my motherboard came with an add-on card which already has two ports. But this means the only two 10Gbps ports in my system are in the back.
I want to really use those ports, meaning, I need them somewhere either on my desk or at least at the front of the PC. Them being on the back is reason enough for them to go unused because I don't wanna keep ducking under the desk and reaching at the back of the PC to plug and unplug stuff.

There HAS to be a solution!! Or at least someone working on one.

I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me.
