hello,

I have a gtx 1060 3gb and a fx 8350 but not in my pc. I currently only have a 350 watt power supply. I ordered a 450 watt one but it will not get here till friday. Could I put the 8350 and the 1060 in the computer and it would work? I know I would not be getting full power but would it even work?

Thanks,

Dylan

I wouldn't do it.

The GTX 1060 uses up to 120w or so from 12v of your power supply, the FX 8350 will also use around 80-100 watts from the 12v of your power supply, the rest of your system will probably use 15-30 watts from 5v and 3.3v and maybe around 10-15w from 12v (fans and hard disks).  So you may have up to 200-250 watts on 12v.

Depending on your power supply, it may not be able to output the full 350 watts on 12v, it may only do 250-300w on 12v and up to 100w would be reserved for 3.3v and 5v voltages. So your power supply may not be able to keep your power hungry cpu and graphics card properly powered.

If it's a decent power supply that can output enough power on the +12V rail, then you can easily run a FX-8350 with a GTX 1060... but chances are it's not. Wait for the 450W PSU (which specific 450W unit is it?).

No, because we don't know what you ordered.

And We don't have any clue what 350W you are talking about...

And there are somewhat decent 450W units and total garbage ones - like those Linkworld things and also great ones like the Bitfenix Whisper M.

And knowing people and the Internet one should expect the worst of the worst.

So without Information about the PSU...
