So i have a Gigabyte X58 mobo with the latest BIOS. The board can get into windows, everything works etc. BUT, before that any USB device will not work, trying to boot from USB won't work, any USB keyboard doesnt' work, but a PS/2 keyboard does. What's more odd is that even using the PS/2 keyboard i can't get into BIOS, i press DEL, the screen freezes and the PC restarts, if i don't press anything it'll go into windows normally. The South Bridge gets pretty hot.

I tried a new CMOS battery, reseting CMOS, a different CPU. Idk what else to check. Thanks in advance

^

enable legacy usb support and problem should be solved, by default its set to auto/disabled

use the ps/2 keyboard to enable legacy support

Tried different ram sticks, no luck.

Can't RMA the board, it's from 2010, 1366 LGA...can't exactly swap to another, it's not worth since these sell for too much (100€ or so)

oh yah forgot x58 is 1366 haha xD

tbh if the southbridge been running hot for a long time it might just start with defects now ;v i know it sucks but certainly possible especially if u been ocing alot :v

if the ramstick swap also doesnt work i dont know really i think its within the chipset of the board maybe

what also is a possibility i had this same issue when i had a device connected in any usb port connected to the mobo that my mobo couldnt boot up ( maximus vi hero ) for example if id have my phone connected it would freeze as soon i try to boot the bios ect haha
