Sennheiser Game ZERO question

B-Woo

So I'm planning on buying the Sennheiser G4ME ZERO Headset, I've heard it's a very good headset and should do well, however I'm not sure if I need a sound card for this headset or something, I have the Asus M5A99x evo r2.0 motherboard, I'm gonna be getting a new Mobo in the future but this is what I have now, will this headset work with/perform well on this mobo?

That board has the typical Realtek ALC892 audio codec, the Zeros will work fine with it.

Whether or not you'd notice any difference with a separate soundcard would be up to your ears to tell. I upgraded from using on-board 892 to a Creative AE-5 and i'm enjoying the headphones a lot more. I think it sounds a little bit clearer and the audio effects you can apply with creative's software are pretty nice for spacial awareness in games. But mostly i upgraded because i kept having issues with the drivers.

Ok thanks, i was not sure if my mobo could work, and is this headset plug and play or is there a software you would have to download?

Just two jacks, headphone and mic. No built in codecs or anything like that over USB.

Freak would agree with me @SSL or would he?

I ordered it off of amazon and it was 40% off so i probably wouldn’t have ordered it if it was not on sale.

I got the headset and the audio is incredible and the mic works fine but is the mic supposed to play my voice back into my headset so i can hear my voice? if it is supposed to its not working for me.

I'd get a sound card. My friend got this headset and it sounded a lot better with one. Doesn't have to be expensive.

It is Sennheiser, They are one of the top names in sound and its not exactly a entry level Headset, Consider they can cost similar to some of the top Corsair who as nice as they are, are not even remotely close

I'd say yes they are expensive, but wouldn't call them overpriced.

That particular headset is overpriced there's a better alternatives like HD 558 and M40x which sounds good and didnt cost a fortune or akg 240

Oh really... My friend bought the m40x because everybody kept telling him "Dont buy headsets, headphones and mic are the way to go" like all the elitist audiophiles...

Guess what. After 1 hour he couldnt take it anymore, his head was hurting so much..

He has a big head plus he has vision glasses... Find me a good pair of headphones under $150 that are comfortable.

You see most people buy these "gaming headsets" because they know that they will be wearing them for HOURS...

No one is saying that a gaming headset has better audio quality than a good pair of headphones...

Sorry for the rant :P

LOL, you do realize the GAME Series is basically the HD598 with a damn good Mic (Go check the reviews its raved about) with Sennhiesers SAME refinement to comfort that comes with any other of there mid range headphones (Say mid range but thats only cause their High end is stupid levels of epic and $$$)

So No, you really seem very miss guided here. Yes you are right, normally don't buy a "Gaming" headset like Steelseries, Razer or Logitech as they spend more money on the aesthetics and not the quality of the mic or the speakers. The GAME took a already damn good headset and added a damn good mic to it, hence why it costs so much.

don't make the mistake of thinking cause its got Game in it its another Rubbish RGB headset.

I would like to add up my opinion, G4me series from my experience are using the HD558 with slight modification in terms of sound. The PC37X from massdrop are using the HD598 with slight modification.. :D
