How will perform a system with:

1) OS on SSD + OPTANE + HDD (Games)

(CANT FIND A VIDEO WITH THIS SETUP)

2) OS on HDD + OPTANE + SSD (Games)

I saw a 480gb SSD for about 110 dollars and I don't know if keep the SO on the HDD and adding Optane or just move the OS to SSD and game with HDD.

Interest in OS boot time and games.

Intel Optane is a gimmick at this point. Any normal person would just get a regular HDD + SSD combo.

Optane is a waste of your money IMO, can it even be used to accelerate anything but the OS drive? if it can then maybe a see some sort of place for it but id rather just buy a 120gb SSD more and add it in

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I think Optane currently is only for OS drive for now. But TBH, I still think it's better to buy an SSD for the OS and a HDD for all the games. Besides Optane only works on Z270 motherboards so far as I can tell.
