1600 with the Wraith Spire cooler is the better deal. You can do a great OC with that on a good B350 motherboard.

 

With that said, the 8600K is a great buy and will give you better performance, but prepare to spend $$$$ on a motherboard and $$$$ on a 240MM AIO to support the OC :).

If you can spend the extra for an 8600k go for it, if not get a 1600

The 1600 is a better value, as it comes with a cooler and matches the 8600k in productivity and can also be installed in B350 boards. The 8600k is a better chip because while you need a Z370 motherboard and a decent cooler, it matches productivity performance, and then smashes gaming performance. Depends on what you can afford.
