Upgrading from 6700k

I am currently running an ITX build with a custom ek loop.

 

Hardware:

CPU - i76700k

RAM- (2) 16gb Corsair Vengeance 3200

GPU - Nvidia GTX 1080ti FE Watercooled

 

Is  it worth upgrading to the Z370, x299 platform yet? Should I wait?

I am an Intel fanboy, so Ryzen is off the board.

The only thing is that i need to stay mITX.

Heavy gaming/streaming. Light video editing at 1440p

I am not worried about the cost of upgrading.... just is it actually worth it, or would it be worth waiting for the next generation of launches from intel?

I'm on the fence about whether it would be worth it. I'm leaning towards yes. Not for gaming at all, but the extra cores and threads would really help for streaming, editing will also improve, but Premiere is more GPU based so there won't be as massive an improvement as you might think.

Don't bother at the moment. Keep your ear on the competition that's brewing since we've reports that octa-cores are coming next year or 2019 from Intel and AMD is trying to release their offerings next year.

Also on a 6700k, I don't see the reason. 6700k is pretty much a 7700k and Intel will be releasing an 8 core i7 next gen, that's definitely worth an upgrade as opposed to z370 which is not going to be supported by 9th gen

Personally, I wouldn't, but it's a tough one because of your circumstances. Is the 6700K hindering your productivity? If so then it might be worth looking into, otherwise probably stick it out until next generation.
