Hello,

So today I updated my internet plan to 1Gbps. the thing is i am speed testing and only pulling 250Mbps. looking at my Ethernet connection it is registering 1.0Gbps on my Ethernet status. i have all necessary hardware for it.

CAT6 Cables

DOCSIS 3.1 Modem from my ISP

ASUS ROG Rapture AC5300 Gigabit Router.

My Motherboard is a GIGABYTE AUROUS Gaming 5 that has both Intel and Killer E2500 with 10/100/1000 compatibility. when i try and change my device speed on both they only go up to 100Mbps and nothing higher. I don't really know what else to do to stop this from bottleneck from my Internet.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

i only know of speedtest.net. do you recommend another site i may look into?

i think he means change the server location on speedtest.net choose the one thats closer to you usually the recommended one if further than the closest one.

At this speed, tests aren't really reliable. Try real world use-cases, like steam. Or try to use multiple-download-sources at once and look at your network-usage in windows.

If this doesn't help, pm me, I might can get you a Benchmark-Sever with more than enough uplink ;)

try http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest - unlike other speedtests which are single-stream, dslreports uses up to 32 streams at the same time, to reduce the chance that a slow server or inter-carrier link is causing an issue for you. If this still shows a low speed (under 900Mb/s) then there may be an issue that needs further inspection. I would try to log into the modem (usually 192.168.100.1 while on the network that connects to the modem) and see how many connections it has made, signal strength, etc.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
