Hello, i'm rather new to PC builds and such. I've done extensive research on how to actually build PC's (LinusTechTips and Youtube). For about five years, I've been running with a PC that i got from TigerDirect and it is time for an upgrade, though it runs well and such, my CPU gets up to 70% when watching a youtube video in 1080P, let alone the wondrous 4K video Linus and his team puts out.

Current Rig

* No Name Motherboard, Single Channel Ram

* Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40GHz

* MSI Computer Corp. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gaming OC 2GB GDDR5 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card N750TI TF 2GD5/OC (Copied that from amazon after noticing that the label on the side of the card says MSI. Found it pretty easy since i no some of it)

* 1TB Hard Drive (Very Little Space Left)

* 500W Power Supply

* Windows 8.1 Operating System

I know that my graphics card is decent, though i would like to get a stronger one with my next rig, and is is possible to combine the one i have currently, with a new, more powerful graphics card? But what i would truley like help with is picking parts for my next build. I'm hoping to get this case and most likley will (Link). But i'm also looking at this case (Link). Most likley going to go with the first case though since it has 4 USB 3.0 Ports and i need two of those ports for my keyboard, another for my mouse and the last one for my headset.

If at any and all possible can i receive some assistance in building my new rig? I would like it to be able to handle 4K and VR if needed(Not Necessary Though). Currently i have a lot of games on my steam account that i cannot play since my processor cannot handle it. Take 'The Witcher 3' as an example, as even on the lowest settings, the game can only run at max 20-30FPS. It would be extraordinarily wonderful if i could receive some help from all you wonderful people in coming up with and building my new rig.

Please do keep in mind though that i don't want to build a 10-15K computer, and would like to keep it arguably affordable to the average man. But most of all, i would like all the parts to work well with one another, as i know that just putting all the highest tier parts together, won't allow you to come out with a computer that works well. Anyways, i do thank whomever decided to read this much and whomever helps me out. :)

So what's your real/current budget then? Is it just a gaming PC?

Time is my friend, as well as craigslist and newegg, so i should be able to get most parts pretty cheap, so i'm not really worry about that and i'm not really sure what i should set my budget to. And yes it is just a gaming PC.

I mean there's really not much point in planning anything until you have a real/set budget.

Otherwise it's going to look like a 1700X because it won't matter at 4k 60hz.

A 1080ti is the fastest GPU, but G-sync 4k displays are stupidly expensive, so Free-sync makes more sense, but Vega is only worth it at $399 with the 56, then you just take 2 minutes to flash it to 64 and get a lot more performance out of it.

Aside from that you should totally go for a H500P case, has 2 200mm fans for intake.

Thx. But i guess for budget. I should be able to devote $2100 a month to building the rig.

you can say give me the best bang for my buck that is possible and still end up around 2k$ max.

1080Ti 750$

7700k 350$

x270 175$

16Gb Ram 150$

(estimate prices)

that's pretty much the stongest core components for gaming atm the moment (coffe lake not considered)

Add 500$ more for case and PSU and stuff and your set.

As @Streetguru said you need some set budget but with this estimate you have a rough number. Of course you can go sky high with money but you'll get diminishing returns even at this point, and only worse the more you spend. :)

If you go coffee lake I guess add no more than 100$ to the overall cost but you have the most recent CPU and Motherboard as well (which I actually would do but they come out like... today or so I think? ^^ ).

If you're looking at an 8k build, watch the Latest TR build on Youtube it came out today (I know you don't have a measly $2.99 a month for FPC) so I really wonder if this is someone asking for everyone ultimate build.

Another thing to consider, do you want a flashy nice looking system (with RGB LED and lights and stuff) or a decent "business" looking PC.

As for my personal taste, I love silence. When not gaming my PC is almost inaudible. (Gaming ofcourse the GPU fan ramps up for cooling)

Silence is a great way to spent a lot of money *cries*

Another thing. Would this motherboard work with the 8th Gen processor? I'm pretty sure this is the motherboard you're talking about, correct?

I'm not much for LED stuff so someone else will have to give their piece of advice there but for silence, go with noctua Fans and Coolers (If you can accept the colors... the are... special. And yes only these weird brownish colors )

Otherwise, beQuiet is great.

Also, Air-Coolers are usually better if you don't go into overclocking (which I wouldn't as the CPU won't be the limiting factor).

Linus just did a video on puget Systems, they share a lot of my mindset when ot comes to pc building. But they dont do RGB :)

Nope, you need a new X370 Chipset for the i7-8700K.

Edit: But otherwise yes, there are a lot of motherboards with this chipset.

I think Asus alone did like 12 or so.

Total rewind, it's Z300

Not X. X is AMD. My bad.

No experience with this particular board but quick pick: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813119035&cm_re=Asus_Z370-_-13-119-035-_-Product

that plus the intel https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=19-117-827&Tpk=19-117-827

The motherboard then has a list of compatible RAM which you should consider :) (at least) 16 Gb of DDR4-2666Mhz
