Hi guys,

My PSU has started sparking:

So I've disconnected it, and I think I need a new PSU, Reddit were recommending I get it from Tier 1 or 2 from this list: http://i.imgur.com/361pNaI.png, as I have an i7 6700 and a gtx 980TI, but getting a £80 PSU seems like overkill, as it would cost £80 from Amazon, which seems a lot, is this overkill?  I'm only asking because Reddit seemed to freak out when they saw that video, and started using all caps (Nb it remains unplugged and will remain so) and being very unhelpful.  Also, should I be looking at replacing any other components?

I've been told I need about 650w, whereas my current computer (a HP prebuild) uses a 500w PSU, is this also correct?  Sorry for asking for a second opinion but Reddit seem to overcomplicate things.

in addition, I have a CD drive, an SSD and a HDD, and two sticks of DRAM.

Sorry to bother everyone.

80 pounds for a decent PSU is quite normal.

And i can understand that they are freaking out. It can catch fire and burn down your house...

650W is a bit much, a 500W will probably be fine.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3
