My new gaming rig

epic_ziver_D

PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ggtxpb

CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($299.00 @ Amazon) | This will be a i7-8700k you can't pick it yet on PCPartPicker
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (Purchased For $25.00) | I already bought it so if you have any recommendations I will not buy it quite yet
Motherboard: Asus - STRIX Z270-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($179.99 @ Amazon) This will be a Z370 ofc I probably won't get the Z370-E probably the Z370-F or the Maximus X Hero
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($215.99 @ Amazon) | I might go for 32GB might for for a lower frequency but probably gonna stay Trident-Z RGB (Could be not RGB or Ripjaws V)
Storage: SanDisk - SSD PLUS 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($145.49 @ Amazon)  I am very unsure if I am going for the SSD Plus but I'm sure for now I won't be getting a NVMe SSD quite yet.
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($66.88 @ OutletPC) | In the future I might get 1 or 3 more drives for RAID 0 or 10
Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card  (Purchased For $500.00 + Free Copy of Destiny 2)
Case: NZXT - Noctis 450 ROG ATX Mid Tower Case  ($169.99 @ SuperBiiz) | I like the case, and I want to pay a bit extra for the ROG edition.
Power Supply: Corsair - 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($109.99 @ Amazon) I want 650W so I can be free to upgrade without problems. And RMi because I might want to control the fan.
Total: $1651.83
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available | In my case the price is quite wrong because I am buying some parts locally and none of the price includes shipping. (And there's also the Coffe-Lake stuff which will ad a bit more)
Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-10-04 07:04 EDT-0400

If anyone has any tips I'm open for advice (I already bought the 1080 and the Hyper 212 EVO so I probably won't buy a different one). I will probably buy a NVMe SSD at least for windows in the future, I probably will buy CableMod cables and some RGB strips but not quite yet. Next thing will probably be a Mechanical Keyboard then new screens. I might OC the i7-8700k but if I do it will probably be on some of the cores.

EDIT: Forgot to mention if it's not obvious this build is mainly for gaming, some light editing/content creation (live streaming or recording) in the future.

You will need to swap to a Z370 motherboard, Coffelake isnt backwards compatible with Z270 motherboards.

Wait for coffee lake and see how it does then decide from there.  I recommend a different cooler, no matter is you already have a hyper 212 evo.  It's fine but others can get cooler.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

You do NOT need 32GB RAM, and $215 is ridiculously over priced for 16GB RAM. You can get 16GB RGB RAM for $170, or 16GB normal RAM for $130.

Also don't get that SSD, get an MX300 instead or spend a bit more for an 850 EVO. Do NOT buy an NVMe SSD, especially for your OS.

Don't get that case, especially not for $170. It is not a very good case for today's market. Save $70-100 and get a Fractal Meshify C, or something similar(Define C TG, Enthoo Pro M, Eclipse P400S, S340 Elite). Heck, even an Enthoo EVOLV ATX is cheaper than that N450.

Ik that's why I wrote I will get 1 or 3 more drives in the future for a total of 2 or 4 drives for RAID 0 or 10 (respectively)

I said I am getting a 8700k and a Z370 (Coffe Lake)

EDIT: About a different cooler I will probably upgrade in the future but I already have the Hyper 212 EVO so I don't see a reason to buy a new one if the 212 EVO is enough for now.

EDIT 2: If I upgrade it will probably be to a NH-D14 or 15

Yea I was unsure about the 32GB and the extra price for 16GB is for the Trident Z RGB which I think will look amazing (the price isn't that much more if I buy it locally because RAM priced are weird here)

Yea I wasn't sure about the SSD ill check it out.

And about the case I really like the N450 and as I said I really want the ROG Edition, Also the S340 is VERY hard to find and I don't like the look of many other cases in this budget or I have to ship it and I don't want to be shipping cases.

No, it's not that it's expensive, it's a waste of money. Expensive and waste of money mean different things. You can buy something for $5 and it can be a total waste of money. Or you can buy something for $20k that isn't a waste. For you, an NVMe SSD is absolutely a waste of money.
