help answering a stupid question.

this was on the homework for my college hardware class. "Suppose a video card requires a 6-pin PCIe power connector, but your motherboard does not have this connector. What can you do to solve this problem without replacing the motherboard?" we all know that a motherboard doesn't power a card with a cable.

Your motherboard wouldn't have a 6-pin PCIe power connector, your GPU would, and your power supply would.

 

If your PSU doesn't have one, the other option is use a Molex -> 6-Pin PCIe adapter. If doing this, avoid overclocking so you don't overload it.

If the problem does not allow you to replace the motherboard, why wouldn't you replace the video card itself? Problem solved

Tell I'm it's a 1050(Ti) and the 6 pins is optional.
