I have done the "Hypothetical Cheap Work Station" and I was inspired to do the opposite, the most expensive.

If your professional job requires this processing power then budget isn't an issue, displays are bad in my opinion, would go for a single Acer X34, and since we're spending so much I think that 2 GTX 1080ti FE from EVGA b-stock which is around 649$ each and then water cool both in SLI would be neater than get the most expensive single aftermarket 1080ti

Seems interesting, but why the mismatched monitors?

I thought I can have one main monitor and another for some side task but I suppose that a 4k monitor is so large I wouldn't need another monitor, so here's an updated version.

This includes RAID 10 SSD drives for storage, plus SLI GTX 1080ti water cooled cards, and duel 4k monitors.  This is a REAL overkill workstation...

Well my bad.

One should use quad channel memory kits for quad channel motherboards.

I don't think there is a worse performing NVMe M.2 than the Intel 600p. A 1TB or 2TB Samsung 960 Pro would do a better job satisfying the thread title.

If the budget is open, then don't bother with hdd. Use ssd.

Same with the psu, go for 80+ Titanium. Something like SeaSonic SSR-1000TD.

You might consider a 360 cpu cooler.

When I see "workstation" I automatically think of a system intended for professional use. Which is why I was surprised to see two gaming monitors. I expected something like Asus PA328Q.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
