I am preparing to build a system, and I don't want to pass anything up, however I do have a strict budget, that takes into account the prices of the 8700k and z370 mobo. I don't care that the case is garbage, because it won't affect anything. I want everyone that sees this to comment on if they think there are any glaring flaws in this build. The power supply and graphics card are from https://www.evga.com/products/productlist.aspx?type=8. I cannot afford an ssd right now, but I will add one in the near future, and this build will be for VR gaming, specifically Project Cars 2. Please don't say "Ryzen", or "not 1080ti".

Edit: you can make the 650w evga a corsair cxm 550

The price to performance on the ram is unreal, and I don't care that it is green

Still only 10-20 more for better quality ram and room for future expansion. But if you want to go for the green sticks do whatever.

Don't get the 7700K, wait for Coffee Lake.

H7 and similar coolers are the bare minimum for an overclocked 7700K, and the 8700K has 2 more cores.

Get an SSD. Or buy one later.

You can get the CX/M 450/550 W for less than $50. They are better PSUs.

I would love to, but again, it is a matter of green ram, or house fire PSU, and 16gb should be enough for a while

You forgot an SSD (kind of a huge deal)

The RAM config is a bit odd, as mentioned.  Just get an 8x2 then you can add more later if you want, plus it just makes more sense

PSU could be better

If you get a powerful cooler you'll probably be able to overclock a lot better.  Something like a Noctua NH D15

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I can't use a 450w psu because it isn't enough to power the system, and I want a semi modular power supply. This leaves me with the cxm550, which is 10 extra dollars for a power supply that can only hit 100w less, and it isn't like EVGA is going to blow up my computer.

450W should be enough for the system under a typical load. But just barely. The CX550M is a better PSU, as in better regulation, ripple and component quality.

450, even 400 is enough. Maybe even 350.

Did you wonder why such a good price/performance ratio? Aside from the fact that the modules are not pretty, there are several likely reasons for this. Relatively slow memory by today's standards. The latency is not optimal. And will probably be unable to run in dual channel mode. Which begs the question, why buy top of the line cpu and gpu then throttle them with less than optimally performing memory?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

its speed and latency aren't bad, the whole dual channel thing didn't occur to me tho.

After a few minutes of research, they have a normal cas, normal speeds, and will run in dual channel, they are only green.
