Upgrading my 4th gen i5

rip

Found a Xeon 1240 prebuilt with 16GB of RAM, 1TB HDD and a GTX 670 for pretty cheap.

Already have 8GB in my PC but that xeon board can support up to 32gb

(it's a HP Z210)

currently have an i5 4460 and rx 470, i could sell the 670

owner listed 300 $ canadian, can pick up locally so no shipping or tax

i want to do video editing and streaming hence the upgrade

is it good?

Just buy a Xeon E3-1230 V3 or 1231 V3, or an i7-4770/4790(k) - whatever is cheapest. Then grab a 2x8GB kit of RAM.

they cost around 300 CAD+ on ebay without ram sticks

and my pc only support max of 2 ram slots, 16gb would be enough for me however

What Xeon 1240 is in the system you're thinking of buying? If it's a V3, go for it. If it's an older Xeon, I'm not too sure.

Hmm, you'll lose a bit of IPC and Haswell is already a bit behind but you should be able to make the $300CAD back by selling your i5, Mobo and RAM, and the GTX 670. Plus the Xeon will perform better in streaming and editing that utilises more threads, so if you don't mind the loss of IPC, go for it I guess.
