Yup.  The 8600k is the new i5.  It is a 6 core.

idk but in my eyes its not worth spending around 100 dollars more when in productivity a 1700 will still do aswell as the 8700k but will be on a new platform rather than a rapidly dieing one

He said he is going to be doing a lot of gaming.  Coffeelake is outperforming the 7Skylake in gaming.

theres a 6 core 6 thread i5 yeah but it complicates things more, id personally build ryzen but its down to you

the cooler you picked is great but a hyper 212x will allow you to overclock the same, ryzen is quite good with overclocking

plus ryzen really benefits from faster ram, ive thrown 2666 on there, and it works out cheaper than your budget :)

Over Ryzen?  Between the clock advantage and IPC advantage...they really are not even close.  Wait until all the benchmarks come out in the next few days.

gaming whilst streaming, unless he wants to fork out an extra 100 for the cpu over the 1600 and a decent aftermarket cooler for the cpu and a more expensive mobo as a b350 board can handle the 1600

i feel as if with ops limited budget, ryzen is the best choice

do that list with the 1060, swap out the psu as it sounds bad unless you can say what model or just ignore me and keep it
