I am almost done building my new PC (Bought most parts individually to save money and beat inflation, that's terrible here).

My laptop died and I had to hurry up with the buying process for the new system (the same parts but borrowed money and buying an SSD later on)

Since I could, I am reusing my laptop's 750GB HDD (which is slow but it will do until I have a better solution available). But I could not format it before the laptop died.

Are there any steps or problems I should expect when I try to install a new copy of Windows into it?

Should have no problems. Just format it via the windows installer, and if you do choose so, you can backup the old files via the windows installer.

Thanks a ton

I don't think so if you have another computer you can plug it into using a usb adapter or something, you can just format it there.

Why exactly did the laptop die?

If it's a drive problem then you will 100 percent have issues

Honestly not a single clue why it died, but I know for a fact that the HDD was still working. Also adapters aren't easy to find here, they are much more expensive than in the US, and it's way too much trouble. If it won't work I'll just wait out another week and buy a new HDD
