OC question

So, ive got a GTX 1060 6gb DUAL from asus for $300, and I think its pretty dank. The stock is 1509 or somthing like that, and the stock OC is at 1809. Ive been pushing it to around 1859, but the OC software I use(GPU Tweak 2) still lets me go higher. On 1859 under load the temp is around 47C. I was wondering how much pushing it to the max for a little bit for fun would cut the GPU's lifetime. This PC's gonna have to last me at least 3y.

Did you monitor the clock speed in game ?

 

Pascal cards have GPU boost 3.0 which boost the clock speed over mostly any factory OC anyway...

you will probably get around almost all other ASUS 10606GB which is around 1911 - 2080mhz with a performance/aggressive fan curve. EVGA's Precision OC is way easier to OC these 10 series GPUs though.

Im not really worried on the sound part, but I just dont want to kill my GPU

You won't, just monitor temps. Most cards under load get 70-85C so keep pushing till it crashes and long as temps stay good.

i have a 1060 laptop and i don't need to overclock, so i don't see why you should bother.

short said, any type of oc reduces its lifetime... however if u want it to only last 3years atleast, ur fine... alot of chips last around 10 to even 20 years.  with high overclocks that could make it like 7-15years   but 3years should be easily fine even with high oc,s
