Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had a checklist/build order to make sure no mistakes were made. I'll be making my second computer soon (last was in 2011) with my fiance and I just want to make sure no stupid mistakes are made. I've tried to make my own, but I'm not sure if I've missed anything.

1. Take out Motherboard, ram, cpu, cpu cooler, videocard, psu, and any storage drives (not sure if drives are needed)

2. Power up and test to confirm post. (don't forget to flip psu switch when powering off)

3. Remove graphics card and drives, unwire psu.

4. Take out case, do any fan changing/installing

5. install i/o shield and motherboard stands (not sure if stands is right word)

6. install motherboard, then graphics card and drives (no wiring yet

7. wire front ports and drives, anything else non power related

8. Install PSU with power cords plugged into it, and then route cords to motherboard/drives/graphics card.

9. Flip psu switch and cross fingers

10. install os and have a good time!

Is there anything I'm missing details wise? I just dont' want to take any risks with my future, 2,300 build, as I'll be somewhat distracted introducing a lot of the parts and such to my fiance (who isn't a gamer, but understands my passion)

How i do it:

1.Take the essentials out of the box and test if they post (usually no HDD needed)

2. Prepare your case, fans, PSU cables etc.

3. connect your CPU 8 pin to mobo and install the mobo with CPU/RAM/Cooler

4. wire the 8pin cable behind the mobo tray

5. install the other crap like HDDs, GPU etc.

6. connect the 8pin to your PSU and wire the rest like GPU power, 24pin, Sata power.

7. finish the cables and aesthetics

8. enjoy your new PC

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM
