Got old pc working now what?

RonaldMcDank120

I spent a few hours at my friend's house fixing his old pc, I got it working in the end. Wasn't able to get into the bios because he didn't have a keyboard or anything, What  should I do now and how do I test the system and get everything working. Also, want to install windows XP or vista maybe even 7.

yeah run a memtest89 on hes system to check hes rams , 1pass atleast

download cpu-z

download hwmonitor ( for temps )

get a stress test like prime95 run a blend test for atleast 12hours

^ if everything is stable u should be raedy to go

after all that i would start by checking the actual performance of the hardware, do some benches n stuff

see if he needs any upgrades... if so get him some cheap ass used stuff that is a quite good upgrade

set him up for whatever he wanna do ( wether its editing or gaming or w/e )

and make ur friend happy lol

I'll make sure to do that, do you know where I would get the drivers for everything and find out what all the parts are?

umm yeah, go to the manufacturers websites about the specific parts to download the drivers there

such as , gigabyte motherboard = go to gigabyte website and check the drivers for the mobo type number

do same for all components that needs drivers installed
