Hello,

So I installed LMMS 1.1.3 recently from https://lmms.io/download/#windows. I am pretty sure that this is a safe place to download it but don't know. After it finished downloading, I checked my recently added apps and saw a new program called "Uninstall".

I did not purposefully download this, so I did some research on what It could be. I found out that there is a trojan software called Uninstall too. Is this program a threat, or is it part of LMMS? Or could it be part of windows? I really am unsure what this program is. I did a malware bytes scan and It didn't find anything, but I still want other opinions. And if it is a threat, can someone please tell me what to do next?

PS: Below is a screenshot of what the strange program looks like.

Thanks!

Could just be the uninstaller for LMMS? See if the same thing is in the start menu folder for LMMS (if there is). Otherwise you could check: right click > more > open file location, then again right click > properties and see where the shortcut leads to. If it leads to the LMMS folder it's part of that.

Normally alot of apps have a dedicated uninstaller (normally uninstall.exe) i wouldnt be too worried. Look in the LMMS directory and see if its in there

Agreed. Formatting/reinstalling should be a last resort.

OK, so I believe I went to the program files for LMMS. I went to This PC>Windows>Program Files>LMMS. In the folder, I see the application LMMS and the Uninstall program.

I mean, it could be malware, but that would never have crossed my mind.  It's almost certainly just the uninstaller for the program you installed.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
