I had a 2 year old 480gb sandisk ultra II drive in my desktop and sadly it short circuited the other day.  I was wondering if there is any way to restore it without voiding my warranty.  I'd rather not rma because it would take more time, but I can do that.  I have a backup 2tb hdd in my pc, but I had to reinstall windows onto it, but it's much slower and louder.

🙂

Without going to a data recovery specialist, there's not really much you can do.

Gaming PCs:
Intel i7 4790k, EVGA GTX 980ti, NZXT H440
Intel i5 7600k, Asus GTX 970 DC Mini, Silverstone SG13B

By yourself, I don't think there's much you can do.

You could try taking it to a data recovery specialist and they MAY be able to do something with it. Big emphasis on may, since if the short affected any of the nand flash then you're doomed.

I doubt it was my psu: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2cDwrH/logisys-power-supply-ps480dbk because even though this thing looks pretty janky, it's been really reliable in my build for the past year and a half, so I honestly have no idea.  It doesn't show up in the bios, it doesn't show up as en external drive in my enclosure and frankly it just seems dead.

No idea.  I wasn't screwing with it or anything, just trying to overclock.  I reset the bios and went in and boom dead ssd.  I was wondering why though for the past 2 weeks whenever I tried to overclock my cpu that I have booting problems.  I should've realized and stopped but I guess I have to see if it's covered by the warranty.

Yo that thing is janky AF. $20? C'mon now let's be honest. At least snag a CXM.

Nope gonna keep it until black friday/cyber monday.  0 problems for the 1.5 years I've had it and low heat/noise EDIT: it was $13 when I bought it :P

Except for the fact that this thing probably just killed your SSD.
