Does my GPU work on a 1280x1024 as it would on a 1920x1080 monitor when I set the resolution to Full HD?

The title is pretty self explanatory, it's kind of a weird, perhaps dumb question. So basically, I have a GTX 1050ti and I currently have a 1280x1024 monitor. I want to check how my GPU would work on Full HD resolution, so, if I set the resolution to 1920x1080, even though it doesn't show up properly on my 1280x1024 monitor, is my graphics card working as if it would work on a Full HD monitor? Am I getting the FPS I'd get on a Full HD monitor with Full HD resolution, even though it's a 1280x1024 monitor?

It will work as if it is connected to a 1080p monitor, but you will have to enable super sampling.
