i5 6400 + GTX 1080

Right now I have a GTX 760, wanting to upgrade to a GTX 1080. 

I am wondering if my i5 6400 will bottleneck the GPU.

 

Playing at 1080p right now, will later upgrade my monitor to 144hz or some sort of ultrawide.

 

I play PUBG, GTA 5, CSGO, Battlefield 4+1, and Overwatch, Plus a butt-ton more because life of a PC gamer but those are the main ones.

 

Anyone else playing with an i5 6400 and a 1080? (Or something similar)

Yes if you play at 144Hz it would defo bottleneck

Yes, the i5 will bottleneck the 1080. If you want to game at 144Hz, I would recommend upgrading to an i7.

What about just 2560x1080 or 1440p?

Alright I will consider finding a 6700/7700

I guess you found your answer but on a slight side note, if you can't afford an i7 just yet, you can still get the 1080 as although there will be a noticeable bottleneck, it will still be able to push much much much higher frames than your current 760 can

- States he may get 144Hz later
